December 1st: Rich’s Rant by Rich Riviera

As usual the media is doing it again. Taking an occurrence that happens on a daily bases and making it the biggest news story of the century just because a celebrity is involved. The so called news media is so incredibly unoriginal. Every news organization is running the Tiger Wood’s getting into and accident after an apparent argument with his wife story as if it’s the first time an incident similar to this has occurred in our lives time. I can recollect countless times men I’ve known have left their premises In a hurry because their wives were chasing them with a dangerous item intent on doing serious physical damage because they thought their man was seeing another women. In fact, I have been involved in that little party several times myself. First of all, if it wasn’t someone of the celebrity of Tiger Woods, it wouldn’t even be a story. Just like Eliot Spitzer, Bill Clinton and OJ Simpson, a very common occurrence becomes big news because it involves someone of star quality put on an ethical and moral pedestal only because we as a society put them there. (OK, maybe OJ’s situation was a little different, but you get my point) In the end where are all men. Has Chris Rock said, a man is only as faithful as his options. Let s face it, Tiger has a lot more options than most. The one lesson to be learned from this and other incidents similar to this is, it’s better to say nothing than to make up a ridicules lie. Just like Bill Clinton saying he “did not have sex with Monica Lewinsky”, then saying” he didn’t think oral sex was sex”, Tiger saying his wife did a “heroic deed” when she came to his rescue after his accident by breaking out his back windows with a golf club then pulling him to safety, is complete and odder bull shit and an insult to any logical persons intelligents. Bill Clinton got in too deep to go back, Elliot fessed up and OJ is still in denial.

Tiger, apparently after the concussing affects of the accident wore off, came to his senses and would not talk to police or anyone else except his lawyers, advice I have given to my son several times and would recommend to anyone. Look, we get it; Tiger got into an accident more than likely after arguing with his wife and trying to flee as quickly as possible to avoid injury or a criminal charge for domestic abuse (think Chris Brown). No need for six pages of coverage in the Post and Daily News. CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox etc., enough, move on you sensationalist bastards. Leave the rest to the Enquirer and TMZ. That’s their job.
