Tuesday night January 19th was our 3rd show of Season 2 of The Comedy Point and our 3rd consecutive good show in a row. What defines a good show? It’s hard to critique your own show, but As Rich Shultis will say, “I have to listen to the show first before I give my honest feedback on tonight’s show!” The Comedy Point crew is starting to build great chemistry and comfort level among myself, Rich and Eric. With the momentum in our favor, 2010 is looking to be a year of nothing but accomplishments.

Throughout season 1 From September 1st to December 29th 2009, we seemed to average a great show every other week. But we never seemed to nail it on back to back basis. It is the first time having my own legitimate radio show along with Rich and Eric, not to mention we are only live on air for 2 hours per week. Radio shows that air daily average 20 shows per month, where as, we just completed our 21st show total. The entire process is a learning curve, but it has been a fun ride thus far.

Since our regular voices including Maddog Mattern are all males, we have tried to have a female guest in studio to balance things out and counter anything Rich may say! That being said, Janet Arneau made for a fun guest this past Tuesday. She’s a very positive person, who can be unintentionally funny, which caught everyone off guard. When asked during a football discussion which team she was a fan of, Janet responded, “The Yankess!” Indeed. But Maddog wasn’t going to let her off that easy as he interjected, “What’s going on in that studio?”

Tuesday night was also a night of firsts while interviewing Jim Pate of First Laughs Entertainment. Jim, along with Mike Smart, run a bunch of shows in Northern Virginia. Just before I was going to ask him to plug the shows this weekend that Yannis Pappas and I will be performing at, Jim stopped the interview mid sentence, “Joel, I gotta go a cop is at my window and I’m pulled over on the side of the road.” I’m pretty certain that has never happened in the history of interviews, but it certainly made for great radio. Jim ended up calling back and everything was ok.

Head writer for The Comedy Point, Burak Uzun, added a new segment, “The Reviews.” During this segment Grandma and Eric Miller, will both review short film or clip and give us their feedback. In the end, it will be determined whether the chosen film will become a, “Comedy Point Instant Classic.” Grandma was really funny this week, especially when she closed by telling Janet, “I’m Joel’s Grandma!” Priceless.

From all of us at The Comedy Point, I want to thank you for your continued support, whether you listen in live or on our podcast. We could not do this without each and every one of you. In 2010, we will feature 50 shows with 50 guests from 50 states. So if you know of a someone who would like to be a guest on the show, shoot as an email at thecomedypoint@gmail.com!
