February 2nd: Ground Hog’s Day at The Comedy Point

50 Shows with 50 Guests from 50 States is The Comedy Point’s Moto for 2010! Since we started so strong and managed to cover a lot of ground over the first month, this week we did not venture into new states. But I can honestly say tonight, I had a lot of fun, enjoyed myself and it was our 5th consecutive good show in a row. In 2009, our 1st season of The Comedy Point, our shows were in consistent from week to week. But all of those kinks were worked out within the 18 shows of Season 1 in 2009. Mark Viera, “The Latin Prince of Comedy,” made for a great in studio guest giving off great energy and blending well with the cast of The Comedy Point.

Mark Viera will be performing along with the other Top Dogs of Comedy at The Brooklyn Academy of Music on February 12th. But what’s great about Mark, was that the minute he walked into the studio, it was evident he was there to have fun first and promote his shows a distant second. So many of our fans that listen to The Comedy Point every week, told us how much they enjoyed hearing Mark in studio. Mark also interacted very well with our call in guests, and certainly added a bit of his Bronx-born Latin flavor to the show.

At The Comedy Point, we are all about cross-promoting and featuring guests that are grinding and trail blazing in their given field or profession. Our first call in guest Alvin Grant, who also designed TheComedyPoint.com, is currently working on launching NV Magazine in March 2010. http://www.NV-Magazine.com Look for NV Magazine and Alvin Grant to do big things in 2010.

Closing out the 1st hour was comedian John Van Brunt, who was featured on Soul Joel Productions show in Red Bank, NJ at River’s Edge on January 28th. It was the 3rd SJP show for Van Brunt, who was calling in while still on the clock for his day job. This is where having Mark Viera in studio made situations like John callling in from work, even funnier. Rich Shultis, my co-host, and I had to pull away from the microphone we were laughing so hard. John knew how to bust back and make light of the situation. Some people would have thought we were serious, but it’s all in good fun and making the show better for our listeners.

The entire show was pure laughter and was brought to you commercial free by The Switch Inn in Middletown, NY. For more info on their SUPER Bowl Party this SUNDAY Check out this Facebook invite: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=284949337837&ref=ts
From Grandma to Maddog Mattern, everyone was hitting on all cylinders. Plus we had Susan Nesto, our super fan from Uniontown, call in to challenge Rich in sports.

Wrapping up the show was our good friends Dan and Steve en route to San Diego, as they roller blade across America while raising money for their respective charities. For more information go to their website at http://www.inmotionforamillion.org

Plus, big thanks to Soul Joel Productions biggest support Frank Goodell for making the trip up from Staten Island and hanging in studio. It was a lot of fun.

The show will be uploaded and ready to for your listening pleasure by Wednesday afternoon. Thank you all for your continued support, as we strive for bigger and better things in 2010!
