SOUL JOEL TAKES ON WARRIOR CHALLENGE

Radio personality and comedy producer Soul Joel commits to a face off in the Warrior’s Dash and to raise funds for Staten Island’s Lifestyles for the Disabled.

Staten Island, NY- Dec 28, 2010 – “Soul” Joel Richardson announced today on his radio show, that he will compete against Anthony Augello of Tony N’ Tina’s Wedding in the Warrior’s Dash, in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania on Sunday June 12, 2011.

Augello threw down the gauntlet live on The Comedy Point with Soul Joel Radio show, and Richardson agreed to the extreme challenge. The Warrior Dash is a grueling obstacle course which includes burrowing through tunnels, wading through mud, and maneuvering over cargo nets. The event website, www.warriordash.com describes it as, ” a mud crawling, fire leaping, extreme run from hell.”

“I can’t back down from a challenge,” stated Soul Joel. In addition to committing to getting in shape for the face-off with Augello, Soul Joel announced he would use it as opportunity to fundraise for Staten Island’s Lifestyles for the Disabled. His goal is to raise $2,000 for this cause.

The excitement in the studio continued as Soul Joel’s sisters Deanna and Laura Lyn Richardson called in to the radio show and challenged Augello to find two other women to take on the Richardsons as a family. Augello agreed, but admitted he was intimidated by their confidence in their athletic ability. The show’s chat room visitors also challenged Augello to compete as his character from Tony N Tina’s wedding.

“This is a great opportunity to push myself to get in shape,” says Soul Joel. “And if it helps me raise money for a great cause, even better.”

This isn’t Soul Joel’s first athletic challenge with big stakes. A former Wagner College wrestler, Richardson competed last year in a pound a week challenge, losing over 40lbs and earning a free suit and an exercise bicycle from his show sponsors and a free dinner from his co-host Rich Shultis. He also ran in a marathon, and competed in a polar bear plunge.

“Comedy Point fans can look forward to six months of tough talk between me and Anthony (and my sisters) as we prepare for the Warrior Dash,” says Soul Joel I can’t wait. Its going to be fun.”

Soul Joel plans to blog about his training and fundraisng for Lifestyles for the Disabled on his website, the ComedyPoint.com and will give updates on his weekly radio show, The Comedy Point with Soul Joel.
