How did you get into your business?

Judy and Camille:

Our business was an easy transition from a career we love . Feeling stagnant, stifled & unfulfilled, working for someone else, to now owning our own salon, it’s quite rewarding “running our own show”.

Was there any overlap between starting your business and working a “day” job?

Judy and Camille:

We had to keep our new business a secret from our employer or we would have been IMMEDIATELY fired. This made our start up take twice as long to accomplish.

Describe your craziest day of juggling your professional and personal life?

Judy and Camille:

Our personal & professional always seem to blur. Because we work together and we are best friends & family, sometimes it gets difficult, other times it’s the Best Day Ever!

Do you live to work or work to live? Many people tell me that I work all the time, but I’m passionate about what I do, so I never look at it the way people in corporate America do.

Judy and Camille:

As we begin our future as owners we believe our passion over rules work as a “chore”. We must work to support ourselves for now…. Until we grow and have stylists working for us. Our type of profession is so creative & everyday, every hour is different which is why we don’t consider the work arduous. We say yes to most everything that presents itself to us, we push forward, we get exhausted, we’re gratified, and we are grateful & proud.

Where do you see yourself and your company in 10 years?

Judy and Camille:

We could see ourselves having a second location. We have thought out a concept salon idea that would be perfect for Las Vegas. Go Big or be forgotten. Branding ourselves making Rock Paper Scissors a recognizable name, now that turns us on!

Does your current living location have anything to do with starting your own business or could you live anywhere?
During the week to get out of my house, I operate out of Panera Bread, for the delicious food and free internet. Do you work from home or have a similar working environment?

COMBINED ANSWER:

Choosing to start our salon in this location was because we would not be asking our clientele to go a far distance from what they are accustomed. We have established over the years a very loyal and supportive clientele . Sure we could take our skills anywhere there are people who can afford quality, artistic hair care, however it was with our clients in mind why we chose this location. It’s just distant enough away from bad mojo of the old place. Our new arena affords us many more opportunities, and it has brought fresh new people in our lives. Rock Paper Scissors is laced with newness and atmosphere everyone is happy to be around.
