Don’t Be A Litter BugĀ
w/ Laura Lyn of The Green Point, a weekly and daily blog about going green!
“Litter is a problem that can be controlled. Education is an important tool. People who are aware of the dangers of litter often make more of an effort to always put their trash the correct place. They also spread the word to others they see littering and teach them to dispose of garbage the right way. Community clean ups encourage people to take pride in their community and keep it clean. Quick removal of litter keeps it from growing into an unmanageable dump site. People can make a difference. Litter can be conquered”- http://www.greenecoservices.com/littering-facts-and-statistics/
Payton, the love of my life, my ninteen month old daughter is more concerned with the amount of trash that is surrounding her place of play rather than enjoying the equipment that the playground has to offer. She spends her daily morning visit at the park walking around picking up the left over evidence of the snack bar from the baseball games the night before. What surprises me the most is she starting doing this all on her own. Of course she always sees her father and I dispose of our waste properly, but never have I gone around the park to interupt her play time to pick up after others. As a mother, this makes me very proud of my little one for knowing already at such a young age that trash should not be thrown on the ground. But, it also concerns me. It is not the responsibilty of a baby, to be frank, to pick up after grown adults and other children when there is an addiquent amount of trash recepticles and recycling bins. So, please, let’s all try to take Payton’s example and be anti-litter bugs…and remember, recycling is best!
