About:

meyerman began as a solo home-demo project by theo meyer sometime in 2006, when the NJ musician set up a studio in his home to record the latest batch of songs he had written. For a year and a half Meyer recorded dozens of songs, playing all the instruments over drum loops. Although a decidedly lo-fi affair, the demos were catchy and hinted at his careful study of crafted melodies, tight arrangements and hook-laden guitar rock from every era. After circulating the demos among local musicians and holding extensive auditions, by 2009, the project had become a full band. Jeff Preischel joined on bass guitar, Rob Barden on drums, and Mike Eckhart rounded things out on lead guitar. Together the newly formed band began rehearsing and selectively playing shows in New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia to test the waters, including appearances at the International Pop Overthrow festival in New York. In the summer of 2009, they made plans to fully flesh-out Meyer’s demos in a proper recording studio, and enlisted pop vet Kurt Reil of the Grip Weeds to help them capture the band’s sound. The tracks were recorded at Reil’s House of Vibes studio and the members’ basement home studios. After nearly two years, the band emerged ready to introduce themselves to the world with “who do you think you are?“, thirteen tracks of masterfully executed pop with power. Since the release the album has garnered serious critical praise from blogs and magazines nationwide.
