Beauty And The Beast, a weekly dating advice column with Kendra Cunningham and John Powers
Dear John and Kendra,
“I work on Wall Street and make a lot of money. How do I know if a girl is really into me or if she’s just a gold-digger?”

I love when rich guys talk about how tough it is to know if girls like them for who they are or for their money. Everybody loves money. If you have it, the girls you date are going to like that. Period. Enjoy it. Hell, the guys you hang out with like the fact you have money. You obviously like money too. Everybody on Wall Street is there for one reason and one reason alone, to make as much money as possible. Anybody who says ‘I’m just fascinated with data pertaining to the economy and if I happen to make money with that knowledge so be it’ is pandering.
Here is the other thing, money changes personality. Money breeds hubris. So you don’t want girls to like you for your money but parts of your personality are directly correlated to the wealth you have obtained. If you really don’t want people to like you for your money, don’t use it. Put it away and live like every other struggling civilian. I bet you can’t do it. You’re drawn to that money, like every other American. Women included.
You want my advice? Flaunt that shit. Be generous. Try to buy women. You’ll find out pretty damn quick who is easily impressed by your pile of cash and who wants a real connection.

Thanks for listening

Dude… they’re all gold-diggers. Stop telling people how much money you make. Most women will tell you they like your personality, but you wrote us two sentences and came off as a dick. It’s not your personality. They want your money.
Where do you meet women? How do you treat them? Do you care about them as people or just objects? Are you the guy who will spend a lot of money on a date and expect women to fall in your lap?
It’s something I’ve struggled with. As a comedian, there’s a certain amount of pressure to be a specific type of person. I’m supposed to be funny all the time and do wild and crazy things. My typical demeanor is a controlled one. Unless I’m drunk at karaoke, you can usually find me having a mellow conversation with good friends.
