Grandma’s Corner Recipe of The Week: Pirogi Casserole

Each and every week Grandma Marian Richardson of The Comedy Point shares with our fans and listeners, one of her, recipes! This week LIVE on the air, co-host Christine Meehan requested Grandma share a homemade recipe, that would make Christine feel at home in New York!

-9 Lasagna Noodles

-2 Sticks of Butter

-1 Box instant mashed potatoes

-Sauteed 1 Large onion

-1 pk of shredded cheddar cheese

-Cook Lasagna Noodles according to package directions

-Place some butter on the bottom of a 9/13 inch casserole dish

-Place lasagna on bottom of dish

-Cook instant mash potatoes according to package directions

-Layer potatoes on top of noodles

-Place some sauteed onions on top of potatoes

-Place a layer of shredded cheese on top of sauteed onions continue layering until all ingredients are used

-Top with butter and lots of cheese

-Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 30 min

-Very good!

As a performer, Lizz brought her political wit to The Daily Show as a correspondent and later to the radio waves co-hosting Unfiltered, Air America Radio’s mid-morning show, where she brought on board Hip Hop legend, Chuck D and political big brain Rachel Maddow.

Our Twitter star Brandon Mendelson will be checking back in, could this be two in a row for Mendelson?

Maddog Mattern, Matt Scarpelli, and Grandma Marian Richardson RETURNS to round out the second hour. In fact, Grandma is currently on vacation and will be calling in from parts unknown.

The Grandma’s Corner Recipe Contest

Do you think your Grandmother makes the best food? Does she REALLY deserve that #1 Grandma Mug?

Well now is YOUR chance to prove it! Send us YOUR best Grandma’s BEST recipe!

The Comedy Point is pitting Grandma against Grandma to find the best recipe made by any matriarch. To enter the contest, just submit a recipe from your grandmother to thecomedypoint@gmail.com.

SOUL Joel’s own grandmother Marian Richardson of The Comedy Point will narrow down the submissions, based on her personal opinion.

Then the finalists will have their recipe made by a 6th grade Culinary Arts Class in New York.

The class will make and taste all of the recipes Grandma picked and choose the winner!

The winning Grandmother will be featured on The Comedy Point radio show.

Notes About Samantha’s Amazing Program:

P.S./I.S. 238 has a Culinary Art Program, for grades 5 and 6, that allows students the opportunity to learn various responsibilities that come with being part of a culinary team. These include, but are not limited to team building, shared responsibilities and leadership skills. Our students work together to create healthy, nutritious foods using the food pyramid. Students participate in ‘hands on’ interactive nutrition activities.They analyze recipes, substituting processed and high-fat ingredients,with marginally processed, healthier ones. Through this program students have increased their understanding of the importance of preparing, cooking, eating, and cleaning up together as a group. They have learned sanitary procedures, the use of kitchen tools and measuring techniques. This is all done under the direction of Ms. Samantha Stouber and Educational Assistants.

Tonight’s show will have a different tone and pace to it, as we have scheduled less guests as normal. The show will be centered around our in studio crew. Co-Host Rich Shultis and Christine Meehan, along with Head Writer Burak Uzun and SOUL Joel will be sharing their funniest car adventures or things that have happened throughout their travels.
