If a picture could talk this one would say, “To Joel: Just thinking of you….”
What do you think?
Wednesday night, I was checking into the Sheraton in Atlantic City after my show in Sea Isle City. The Sheraton is the home for Soul Joel Productions Thursday nights from July 1st to Labor day in the Summer of 2010. Many people recently including Barbara Sanchez of Soul Joel Productions, Pam Green the Executive Chef at The Sheraton and Aimee Repici of The Chatterbox in Ocean City have commented on my magnetic personality. For one reason or another, people feel drawn to me.
Wednesday night, although it was late around Midnight proved to be no different. A kid that couldn’t have been more than 7 years old starting talking to me at the front desk, while his Dad and I spoke to different attendees from The Sheraton. He started going into a story about how he had a headache and all about his day. Keep in mind, I had never met or seen him before in my life. I quickly asked him to look at the huge tv screen by the elevators, he did a double take at me and the picture shown above. “Is that you?” He asks. “Yes,” I responded. “I produce all the comedy shows here at the hotel.”
The father and son walk towards the elevator and I hear him say to his Dad, “That was cool, Dad. He must be famous, he’s on TV!”
Life’s too short. Enjoy every minute while it lasts and have fun! That’s what it’s all about. Something that simple made that kid’s whole trip and now he has a story to tell.
June 15th ended up being one of our best shows, if not the best! The Comedy Point is on a quest to find co-host Rich Shultis a home or place to live by July 1st, since he has been kicked out his house. The show started with Joel’s mother Donna Richardson calling in to lend Rich some advice from her 20 plus years of experience in real estate. Many people often ask me if I ever stop, because it seems as if I’m always on the go. Running my own business, it never feels as if there are enough hours in the day, as there is always something else I can be doing. But I am passionate about my profession it rarely feels like work, although the daily grind can wear me down at times. One of the ways I am able to relax is by visiting my family back home in South Jersey.
Olivia and Payton, my two nieces, are the only people who can get me to turn off my laptop. For starters, Olivia can actually walk over and purposely turn it off, acting like a little rascal. And two because spending time with them is a joy for me while putting my mind at ease, and just enjoying life! Sometimes simply being around them puts me in a state of reflection.

Payton is 4 months old, where she can now be engaged during my story telling, which causes her to start laughing and smile. At least someone in the family appreciates my humor.
Olivia, on the other hand, intentionally acts in a way to provoke laughter from fellow family members.
My favorite is pushing Olivia around in her stroller in a public place, such as the mall. I might as well have Queen Elizabeth herself in the stroller, as Olivia is waving and saying, “Hi!” to everyone. Sometimes catching people by such surprise, they do a double take at me and her, as if thinking, “Wait do I really know these two people?” My sister Laura put it best, that being at my mother’s house puts me in a more relaxing environment, where I can truly feel as though I don’t have to work. Being around the family and loved ones, is just an added bonus!
Speaking of hometown, I’m looking forward to the fundraiser this Friday May 14th in Cherry Hill. Julian McCullough headlines with Dan Soder featuring, as we raise money for the LARC School located in Bellmawr. For more info visit

Hard to imagine that one year ago April 23rd, 2009 was the day I gave my two weeks notice from my day job and decided to pursue a career in entertainment full time. Many people close to me were skeptical in this economy if I was in fact making the right decision. Yet growing up, we were always taught to follow your dreams and passions.
